The Magic of Bubbles!

Bubble Tubing™ is a new Canadian-made self-sinking flexible fine-bubble diffuser tubing available in 1/2"and 3/4" airline sizes. Bubble Tubing can be used industrial applications including mining and aquaculture the unique tubing is also for aerating ponds, water-gardens, long narrow waterways, and wherever a bottom mounted diffusion assembly is not desired or appropriate. The 1/2" Bubble Tubing can be run in continuous lengths of 200 feet and the 3/4" Bubble Tubing can be run longer lengths depending on flow and pressure.

This self-sinking tubing has two rows of tiny holes 1/2" apart along the entire length of the tubing and when air from the compressor fills the tubing the holes open and release tiny air bubbles into the water. As these bubbles rise together they create a moving water column with a vacuum effect that pulls water from lower depths towards the surface. It does not kink and contains no lead or dangerous heavy metals.

Typical Application Scenarios

Wastewater basins, leachate ponds, composting and stormwater retention ponds can achieve highly efficient aeration and circulation using Bubble Tubing. Tubing can be installed directly in to the basin or attached to grids to allow quick removal when required.

Combining linear aeration with floating islands is a recipe for a healthy pond!

Bubble curtains can be effective in absorbing sonar or blast noise from underwater detonations. The bubble curtains will also create an underwater fence to prevent jellyfish, sharks, salmon, shrimp and other species from entering or crossing in to certain zones.

De-icing of large dams & superstructures
Bubble Tubing installed at base of dam ensures dam deicing at all times. Single or multiple lengths of tubing fed by a large compressor can be installed at the foot of the dam face. Rising bubbles create upward flow of warmer waters and maintain massive open water preventing ice damage to dam. Inflatable dams can also be protected using a simple Bubble Tubing™ system. Dock deicing and the deicing of large boat slips is also a standard application. Deicers & BubblersGentle Bubbles in a Canadian Pond installation featuring Bubble Tubing.

Aeration and circulation
The principal function of the diffuser tubing is to aerate and create circulation and the tubing can be used as a replacement with traditional aeration diffuser systems like membrane discs and airstones. Bubble Tubing™ can be installed in large wastewater treatment basins and aquaculture aeration applications for shrimp. From a few hundred feet to several thousand feet using multiple blowers with bio-augmentation. Blast, sonar and noise dampening
Bubble Tubing™ can provide blast dampening during underwater detonation of explosives or percussive piling during construction. Using an air bubble curtain will inhibit sound transmission through water due to the reflection and absorption of the sound waves by the small bubbles. The rising curtain of tightly spaced bubbles act as a blast damper and can absorb the shock waves and other unwanted blast effects. Bubble Tubing™ can also be used around harbors and military installations as a sonar muffler or sonar dampening curtain to reduce sonar noises that can harm sea life. Killer whales in Puget Sound on the Pacfic Coast of North America are being harmed by sonar from the US Navy ships during military practice maneuvers, the underwater sonar can disorient killer whales and other aquatic mammals. Reducing underwater sound levels with a bubble curtain will help with protecting whales, dolphins and other migratory creatures from the harmful effects of underwater noises like construction and blast percussion. As stricter environmental guidelines come into play the tight-knit bubble wall created by the tubing can easily absorb sonar and other unwanted underwater noises.

Reflective pools and unique water features
Bubble Tubing™ can be used to create unique patterns in reflective pools or special projects which combine lighting and surface movements. Attaching the flexible tubing to grids or shapes can allow the creation of strong geometrical patterns, straight lines and unique details lettering or images using CAD. The tubing can be used to create logos on the waters surface or special messages during large exhibits or as special additions to monuments and parks.

The 3/4" Bubble Tubing has a larger bore airline to allow for longer continuous lengths of tubing to be used. This tubing also has a solid steel cable at the center of the ballast adding extra weight to meet the requirements of salt water conditions. The wire rope at the center of the ballast also allows the tubing to be stretched taut between two points. Attaching clamps or marine connectors to the wire rope inside the ballast allows the tubing to be tightening much like a guitar string.

The 3/4" Bubble Tubing comes on reels of 200 feet or custom lengths can be cut if required. Maximum length of a single line should be kept to 800 feet for uniformity of bubbles. Orders ship by truck. 200 foot reel weighs 225 pounds.

Linear aeration is a fairly recent term used to define aeration with long lengths of diffuser tubing and Bubble Tubing is the easiest and least expensive way to maintain highly efficient linear aeration. Ecological sludge removal by diffused linear aeration is a cutting-edge technique for reducing large volumes of organic sediment from ponds and lakes.

The Europeans have a similar "linear aeration system" named after a diffuser tubing developed by Drausy. The Drausy system tubing uses a steel keel for ballast while the Canadian Bubble Tubing™ uses a dense PVC solid core line for ballast. Results using the linear aeration technique are already being implemented on more than ten sites in Germany. The use of Bubble Tubing™ as an effective diffuser in linear aeration has enormous potential for the restoration of lakes and ongoing projects throughout North America are showing high success rates.

Using the Bubble Tubing can also mean adding a dramatic visual impact to your pond. This picture shows a pond with the bubbles rising from a 40 foot length of Bubble Tubing placed in a circle in a 4 foot deep pond. A small linear compressor silently feeds air to the Bubble Tubing and provides reliable clean air into the pond to circulate and aerate the water. Our flexible Bubble Tubing can provide efficient aeration in shallow ponds and hard to reach areas.

The smart way to aerate ponds, lakes & water gardens.

Perfect for any size from small water gardens and koi ponds to larger ponds and lakes.
Linear aeration for shallow ponds

One of the main benefits of this unique bottom mounted micro-bubble releasing tubing is in the mixing of the pond water which eliminates stagnant layers of stratification and allows fish and beneficial creatures to inhabit the entire water-column. The mixing process achieved by the aeration tubing eliminates the problem of stagnant water and the flexible nature of the tubing allows it to be shaped to accommodate many situations from water gardens to ditchwater basins or inlets and fjords in ponds and lakes where shallow depth will not allow a standard bottom mounted diffuser to be used.

The rugged rubber composite construction makes it ideal not only for ponds and water gardens but also for wastewater treatment lagoons and aquaculture systems where higher concentrates of noxious elements exist.

TORPEDO TUBING
Self-sinking & kink free air feeder hose for use with Bubble Tubing™

Our self-weighted tubing eliminates the need for weights or external anchors. Connect the Torpedo tubing to your air-diffusion disc-assembly or Bubble Tubing and the everything will sink into place on its own. Installing your aeration diffusers has never been easier. Torpedo tubing rests on the bottom out of the way of swimmers and boats. Black color makes it invisible from the surface so your pondscape stays natural. This tubing is more supple than most self-sinking lines so it is easier to unroll and work with.

Use this self-weighted, submersible tubing for connections from shoreline to diffuser stations.
The tubing sinks to the bottom on its own so you don't need to tie bricks or weights to make the tubing sink out of sight like standard PVC tubing which floats when filled with air. Torpedo Tubing is constructed of a high-density flexible PVC composite which allows it to be handled and installed easily and the rapid sinking properties make Torpedo Tubing an excellent choice for make aeration installations quick and easy. Connect this tubing with standard 1/2" inserts. Easily join large sections of Torpedo Tubing together or connect to standard PVC tubing for above surface usage (i.e.: between compressor and shoreline) Tubing has an inner diameter of 0.575" I.D. and a 0.313" wall thickness for durability and protection against punctures. Remains flexible in cold temperatures.
