Causes of Problems

Clogged leach fields are very expensive to repair or replace. Grease causes blockages of the pipes and the field. Water no longer percolates into the ground and comes to the surface bringing noxious odors with it.
 
The microbes in septic systems largely come from digestive tracts, where conditions are very different than in a septic tank or leach field. Bacteria found in digestive tracks do not grow in the very different conditions of pH and temperature in a septic system or leach field; the ones needed to protect the environment are not found in disinfected drinking water. Thus septic systems lack the necessary community for proper function.

Preventive Maintenance with Bacta-Pur® KLEAN SEPTIC

1 bottle/3 months/ single family residence. Simply shake & pour in a toilet. Bleach or other disinfectants will inactivate Bacta-Pur®; do not use them together.

NOTES: Bacta-Pur® KLEAN SEPTIC will not dissolve roots, clay, silt, stones or plastic material. Therefore, if a block in the line is determined to be caused by this kind of material, it will be necessary to have the line opened mechanically prior to treatment with Bacta-Pur® KLEAN SEPTIC. After removing the physical blockage, treat as above. Bacta-Pur® KLEAN SEPTIC cannot be effective if the leaching field has been improperly installed with respect to the water table.
 

Follow local regulations with respect to emptying septic tank.
 
A septic tank used in conjunction with a water softener may experience problems with the leach field due to inorganic salt build-up in the pores of the leach field. This build-up is the result of the regeneration of the softener with brine. During the regeneration process, the metal ions of calcium, magnesium, iron and other constituents of the local water are washed off of the softener and flow into the septic system. If they are not contained by the septic tank these metals will precipitate as their phosphates, hydroxides or sulfates and block the leach bed. The use of Bacta-Pur® KLEAN SEPTIC will have little impact on the leach beds whose pores are filled with inorganic salts.
